![]() Like Shutterfly, Snapfish is a generalist printing company for consumers. The curved prints can stand on their own, and the company includes a stand with each straight print for easy display. Shutterfly’s glass prints are not intended as wall art instead, they’re designed to sit on desks, bookshelves, and tables. Although the sizing is limited, each print comes at a reasonable price. Shutterfly offers both flat and curved glass prints. The glass has a smooth beveled edge, which keeps it from being unpleasantly sharp. The glass prints are printed directly on glass, and the result is translucent, allowing plenty of natural light to flow through the images for a light and airy feel. Although this lab is hardly a glass specialist – it offers a huge array of products, including canvas prints, metal prints, and acrylic prints – the quality is great for the everyday home! Shutterfly is one of the most famous consumer printing companies in the world thanks to its marketing campaigns and easy-to-use online interface. Intended to stand on shelves or desks, not hang on walls When viewing our TilePix glass print up close, we did notice some banding, but this is pretty common when printing on glass and is basically invisible from a normal viewing distance. We did find that the adhesive for the mount doesn’t work well with matte paint, though if you struggle to hang your print, you can always use nails. If you want damage-free hanging, the prints can be mounted without nails, and they’re fairly easy to remove, too. You can print pretty large, too – the biggest glass print offering is an impressive 16×24.Īnother great thing about TilePix glass prints is the magnetic mounting system. We’re big fans of the square tile products, but if tile prints aren’t your thing, that’s okay, too you can also get standard glass prints, freeing you from the constraints of a square crop. But TilePix lets you order premium photo tiles on glass, which you can turn into a stunning wall photo display. A screw that comes in the box with the Fracture fits in perfectly all you have to do is find the perfect spot. When you think about glass prints, a photo tile option might not be the first thing that springs to mind. Hanging the Fracture was equally easy the glass is attached to a backing board that has a notch in it. It's safe to say the photo arrived completely unblemished, and even a little ahead of schedule. The picture itself was zip-tied between two pieces of cardboard that were suspended in the middle of another large box. I've ordered products for years from so many vendors, and Fracture might have the best packaging I've seen. Once the box showed up, I realized that was misplaced anxiety. I ordered the largest size (21.6" x 28.8") and was a little worried about shipping. ![]() Once ordered, your Fracture is handmade in Florida and sent. I don't use Instagram, but I think more photo services should support square-sized photos, if they don't already. You can order Fractures in traditional landscape and portrait sizes or square sizes, for those amazing Instagram photos. It'll place an asterisk next to sizes it thinks are risky, too. If the tool thinks your small photo is going to be a blurry mess at 3x its normal size, it'll gray that option out. My favorite part of the upload tool is that it checks the resolution of your photo, and uses that to limit your max size. Fracture's upload tool does have some light editing tools, so if you want to make the photo gray scale, or give it a quick crop, you can. You upload your photo, pick your size, and order. ![]() The process of ordering a Fracture is similar to ordering a photo print through any other online service. Well, I finally found one: A commissioned portrait by one of my favorite web comic artists, Sarah Andersen. I knew I wanted to print this out and put it on my wall, but it was special enough that I wanted to give it the Fracture treatment. The process puts less space between you and the artwork, and doesn't require a frame to hang.įor years, I'd hear podcast hosts talk all about how great their Fractures were, while I tried to find a picture I wanted on my wall. They've differentiated themselves by printing pictures directly onto a single pane of glass. I'd heard about the photo service Fracture years ago they've been talked about on a lot of my favorite podcasts. ![]() I'm particular because what you put on your walls, much like what you wear or how you carry yourself, tells the outside world a lot about you. I moved into my new apartment over half a year ago and only hung up three things, two of which have gone up in the past month. I'm very particular about what decorations I put up on my walls.įor the last two years of college, I couldn't find anything I really liked, so I left them blank.
